While it’s extraordinarily tempting to launch this email with some sort of play on “I have a dream for a beautiful Mid-City...” we’re going to spare you. Well, we sort of spared you, because we told you about it. Kind of. Whatever.
Instead, we’ll just tell you that you should spend your 2012 MLK day weekend volunteering with City Year. They’re hosting a day of service from 10 am to 2 pm (volunteer check in starts at 9am) in and around Mid-City, with a variety of projects set to revitalize the great neighborhood.
They’re meeting at Success Preparatory Academy (which is a short drive away from the breakfast spot, Huevos, but you didn’t hear it from us.) The day promises great work, good people, and a chance to help out in one of our city’s best neighborhoods.
If you care about Mid-City, or are just looking for a fun way to fulfill the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr., do your part and come lend a hand. It’s a half day work and will give you at least a few days of feeling good. We’ll see you there.
