Start the Adventure in Reading (STAIR), a local non-profit focused on tutoring second graders with tremendous potential who are a year or two behind, has many opportunities for you to volunteer. Find out more about what they do here. If you’re an aspiring educator, or just someone who has a few free hours to help a student in need, we strongly encourage you to become a tutor. No experience is necessary; they’ll give you all of the know-how and strategies to become a great tutor. Click here to see where and when you can get trained. Because the need for one-on-one attention is so great, STAIR is very flexible, working at schools all over the city, Monday through Thursday (you know how crazy kids can get on Fridays).
